The collective groan on the Intertubes this morning is a response to Time magazine's decision to name you (yeah, you!) Person of the Year, a choice that's simultaneously corny, meta, and fairly reasonable.

NBC anchor Brian Williams inadvertently shows the necessity of netroots, as he bemoans the move to participatory media:

The problem is that there's a lot of information out there that citizens in an informed democracy need to know in our complicated world with U.S. troops on the ground along two major fronts.

Jesus Fucking Christ! The reason we're in one of those fronts was the MSM's 2003 Cheerleader of the Year performance.

If there were a little more blog reading and a little less embedded flag-waving on the ol' Philco, Brian would have a little less news to report. And no news, they say, is good news.
