Because Huckabee is an anti-science, creationist loon.
Sure, he's using the All-New, Market-Tested, Dominionist-funded "Intelligent Design" branding, but it's still the same shit:
Huckabee, at a dinner in Des Moines, told reporters that the theory of intelligent design, whose proponents believe an intelligent cause is the best way to explain some complex and orderly features of the universe, should be taught in schools as one of many viewpoints. "I don't think schools ought to indoctrinate kids to believe one thing or another," he said.
"Is the Earth Flat? Opinions Differ." You know, I think the real weight Huckabee needs to lose is between his ears, eh?
And get a load of this contradiction:
But [Huckabee] expressed frustration that he is asked about it so often, arguing with the questioner that it ultimately doesn't matter what his personal views are.
But on the other hand, from Huckabee's latest ad:
"Faith doesn't just influence me. It really defines me."
So, Christianism "defines" Huckabee, but pople can't ask about his beliefs and their consequences? Is that trying to have it both ways, or what?
NOTE And somebody should really ask Huckabee what he thinks about clergy sexual abuse among the Southern Baptists (his denomination), because his team has the problem just as bad as Benedict's.
UPDATE A great quote from Tim LaHaye:
LaHaye called Huckabee "the most electable candidate who shares our commitment."
Way to stand on those principles, Tim. Not sure what the commitment might be; coathanger abortions in back alleys by desperate young poor women, I imagine.
