love that--

but they're not listening--certainly Obama no longer cares.

I find this Neither Clever Nor Moving

And personally, I resent the notion that those who agree with the writer are on the side of the constitution and those who hold a different view of said events are not.

What I disagree with is the import that is put on what happened at that committee meeting, and the consistent refusal to credit the complexity of the entire issue of counting votes in a primary that went on longer than any in living memory and the problematic nature of the primary result for both Florida and Michigan, and in which unelected delegates were always going to play an important part.

And no, i do not think that PUMA is defending the constitution or America or the revolution, and don't even see how they are defending either liberalism or progressivism. To the extent that this piece of work provides a window into the fantasy world in which these people may be operating, I think it says something rather embarrassing about them.

The people who have actually been defending the constitution for the past several days and over this weekend are on other blogs, not on this one. FISA isn't yet over, but it might as well be as far as Corrente is concerned. And if efforts fail to keep it from passing in its present form, don't expect that told you sos will be in order; they won't be, because those who do nothing are never in a position to tell those who keep on trying "I told you so."

Just sayin

Count 'em.

If firedoglake and other sites, even as they wrestle with

Obama's messages, take the lead in organizing FISA resistance, why duplicate their efforts?

This is why they got power as A-list blogs; this is why they should still find ways to use that power responsibly. I disagree with most of their commenters regarding their support of Obama, but I've checked FDL's tool to see if it's found my congresspeople on the loose in their home districts.

And, in honor of Sprint's Cellphone Courtesy Month:

... excuse me, you motherfuckin' telco flunky recording my conversation, how in the hell do you live with yourself thinking you have a right to privacy while taking mine? Do you enjoy wiping your ass on the Constitution?

Finally, if we're lucky, this is the best case scenario:

Annabellep speaks, I listen:

But that’s not even the most ridiculous aspect of it. It has been obvious for days that Obama’s FISA debacle was an act of political theater, the only question that remained was who the audience was. I originally thought it was for the benefit of the mislabeled “center,” and it may be, but I think Markos effectively tips his hand with this little display of liberalism. While I, and many other bloggers, thought the FISA flip was perhaps a show of how Obama isn’t beholden to the DFH crowd (now that he’s exploited them for the primary), I am now wondering if it isn’t a staged show to allow the Netroots left to reclaim its bona fides in light of their reckless behavior during the primary season and since June 3rd.

You watch. That article in the NYT isn’t there for nothing. You watch for Obama to flip flop again, suddenly reclaiming his title of Progressive leader while doing something that ordinary Americans, many of them not progressive in the least, are in favor of. The show is for the so-called center and the base. Very clever. And your puppet blogger at dKos is all part of the show. I hope young kossacks don’t get indigestion after they finish the ramen noodles they were forced to buy when they bought Kos’ rhetoric instead of sustenance.

Glad I'm not the only one eating ramen noodles...

I caught so much shit for that.

Anyhow, I'm being polite on the whole thing. I figure I've paid my dues on the issue; check the archives.

What I can't get my head around is the notion of sponsoring ads against Congress-critters in down-ticket races when the problem is at the top of the ticket, with the presumptive nominee.

For that reason, the whole situation seems totally incoherent to me, which means it probably is kabuki of some sort.

So, rather than be, er, impolite, and trash the truly well-intentioned efforts of others like FDL and Glenn, I'm letting the whole issue pass by. It all reminds me of a wonderful article by Tom Wolfe called Mau Mau-ing the Flak Catchers. If the "pressure" "works" then so much the better. I just think the outcome is dictated by the internal workings of the Obama campaign, and that whatever script is being run has very little to do with whatever effort I, or anyone else, might put forward.

UPDATE And let's remember that we're dealing with a professor of Constitutional law here. It's not like Obama's unfamiliar with the issues; as he explicitly told us, he understands where we're coming from, he just doesn't agree, and we should be fine with that. [And we have no place to go.]

No time to find links, though I posted on Obama's statement at some point, and lots of people quoted it...
