A couple of days ago, MJS asked How many Iraqis have been killed since March 20th, 2003?
A while back, I posed another simple, elephant-in-the-room question: Why the fuck are we in Iraq?
Our world has become so skewed that there are many such essential, unexplored mysteries all about. As a little tribute to the long-lost reality-based world, perhaps we should start cataloging them.
Today's simple question is... How could the U.S. arming Sunni militias in Iraq possibly end well?

It depends on what you mean by "well"
If chaos is the plan, things will work out very well for them.
We. Are. Going. To. Die. We must restore hope in the world. We must bring forth a new way of living that can sustain the world. Or else it is not just us who will die but everyone. What have we got to lose? Go forth and Fight!—Xan
"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win." -- Mahatma Gandhi
exactly.
if the point is to continue to sustain the emergency, and all the policies and spending priorities of the emergency, this is a great idea! right now, we call our permanent emergency the "war on terror" and "iraq." when hillary is president, we'll call it "the war on iran" and "protecting our friends in israel." but the policies and funding priorities will remain oddly similar.
