Today's single payer miscellany

Excellent news from Single Payer Health Care:

It is with great pride that I pass on the wonderful news that the Lancaster City Council tonight unanimously passed Council Resolution No. 74-2009, urging the PA General Assembly to support the passage of HB1660 and SB400.

Lancaster joins the City Councils of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Wilkes Barre, West Reading and Reading and the Allegheny County Council in moving the state of Pennsylvania one step closer to becoming the first state to pass single-payer legislation. Together, these councils represent over 3 million Pennsylvanians and more than 25% of the population of Pennsylvania.

And still no high traffic Pennsylvania blogger sees fit to comment on the single payer movement right under their nose.

Personal note, I have decided, for mental health reasons, to give up all high traffic lefty blogs except for Atrios. There is just too much good work being done in single payer blogosphere to fiddle with those who refuse to acknowledge what is happening.

Sneaking it through

It occurs to me that if some high-traffic weblog did cover single-payer in Pennsylvania, it would attract enough attention that people would be trying to kill it. Perhaps it's better to be flying "under the radar" here?

Local, local, local

Neighbor to neighbor. Absolutely.

Moreover, traffic from the 'liberal' blogosphere might scare

off support. Single-payer seems to be winning converts among mainstream Pennsylvanians, not just self-described lefties. If DailyKos or OpenLeft were to suddenly start crowing about it, the conservative grassroots would pick up on it, the issue would become hyperpoliticized, and all the folks in the middle might run back to their fences.

I like the way things are now, where single-payer seems to be an issue that can be taken on its merits, not on whether it's a 'liberal' idea or not.

Nothing is true; everything is permitted.
