In truth, has there ever been a war fought to protect women? Against those who hate women for being womanly and who abuse/kill/hurt them especially because they are women? War happens for a lot of reasons, and people explain them away with even more. But I find myself wondering, for all the bravado of those who advocate bloodshed and killing, is it ever because lots of women are being mistreated? In truth, I mean, not in rhetoric. This post made me have such thoughts, I’m not sure they are profound but I do wonder.
In the end, war and invasion and occupation seem mostly to be about penis-measuring, at least to me. Which stands in strong contrast to many of their stated aims, which since ancient times, frequently include, “protecting women.” Whatever.
this post has nothing to do with the election in the US this year, jsyk.

Whenever they say they’re doing it for the women. They never do anything for the women. If they did, we would have invaded Afghanistan years before 9/11.
Lost Unto This World by Emmylou Harris (couldn’t find a video):
I was once some mother’s darlin’
Some daddy’s little girl
More precious than the ruby
More cherished than the pearl.
My heart was full of mercy
And my forehead full of curl
Now I am nothing and
Am lost unto this world.
I am lost unto this world.
They herded me like cattle
Cut me down like corn
Took me from my babies
Before they could be born.
You can blame it on the famine
You can blame it on the war
You can blame it on the devil
It don’t matter anymore.
I am lost unto this world.
I was tortured in the desert
I was raped out on the plain
I was murdered by the high way
And my cries went up in vain.
My blood is on the mountain
My blood is on the sand
My blood runs in the river
That now washes thru their hands.
I am lost unto this world.
Can I get no witness
This unholy tale to tell
Was God the only one there
Watching and weeping as I fell.
Oh, you among the living
Will you remember me at all
Will you write my name out
With a single finger scrawl.
Across a broken window
In some long forgotten wall
That goes stretching out forever
Where the tears of heaven fall.
I am lost unto this world…
Going to war
for “women” is an oxymoron anyways. Time has demonstrated over and over again, that women always pay the highest cost in war, be they on the aggressor side or the invasion side. Women lose their partners and children*. Women are the first to become dehumanized by an invasion force, and rape is a common tactic to intimidate a populace. Women are always “collateral damage”. Wars of invasion never help women. Only wars fought on behalf of women by the men who love them,** are ever beneficial to women.
*I know men lose their partners and children too, and are hit just as hard, but since we are looking at this in a more historical stance, I’ll stand by it.
**I do realize I’m being very gendered in this, but in the societies where these discussions take place about, exist in very gendered patriarchal societies, so I think it is apt.
Bill Clinton for First Dude!!!
Honest Abe
When someone asked Abraham Lincoln how long a man’s penis should be, he answered “Long enough to reach the ground.” No, wait, the question was about legs. Never mind.

Rape is not uncommonly used
Rape is not uncommonly used as a weapon of war.
Today's Zen moment...
History is replete with allusions for defense of women and children used as an excuse for battle. Kinda like fighting for ” GOD “. It really boils down to real estate and assets. As long as women are reduced to the role of being an asset- i.e, baby maker, tribal trade commodity, etc… This will continue. What’s ironic is they are often treated as a liability to be controlled at all costs. The only hope is for women to unite and say enough! That and perhaps a loaded semi-automatic ?
Rape....
It is still considered part of the “SPOILS” of war.RAMPAGE…LOOT….RAPE..
