If you think Iraq is a Clusterfuck
now, just wait: Things can always get worse. AP, in a story I missed yesterday:
Turkey’s government and military have agreed on detailed plans for a possible cross-border operation against Kurdish rebels based in northern Iraq, the foreign minister said Friday.
Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul urged the United States and Iraq, which oppose a Turkish military move into Iraq, to crack down on rebels of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK. But he said Turkey was ready to stage an offensive if necessary.
“We have decided how to act, everything is clear,” Gul told private NTV television. “We know what to do and when to do it,” he said without providing details.
Asked whether the government would discuss a possible cross-border offensive during a Cabinet meeting next week, Gul said: “Everything can happen in one day.”
Well, splendid.
Of course, when I said “things can always get worse,” I didn’t mean to imply that things would get worse for everybody:
The mercenaries, and the arms dealers, and the winger stink tanks, and the glblwrnterra industries, Republican contributors and operatives all, will all make out very well, thanks very much. For them, it’s not who wins or loses, it’s whether the game is played.
NOTE As I recall, Israsel’s arming the Kurds that Turkey’s thinking of attacking. Should be interesting!

America, how would you feel?
438,000 Americans killed in War in 2006
America has 12 times the population of Iraq.
How would we feel if:
UN reported that American deaths averaged 100 per day in 2006.
100 X 365=36,500 X 12=438,000
Lancet Report on American deaths is now up to 655,000.
655,000 X 12= 7,860,000*
Reports vary but many say 2,000,000 have fled their homes.
Frank Rich 5-24-07 NY Times 2 million fled country plus 2 million displaced in Iraq.
2,000,000 = 24,000,000.
438,000 killed in one year
7,860,000 killed in four years.
24,000,000 lost their homes.
Oh! How we mourned, justly, for 35 years the loss of 58,000 soldiers.
Oh! How we had world ending crisis in New Orleans with loss of homes.
Oh! What a crisis with loss of 2500 Americans from twin towers disaster.
HOW WOULD WE FEEL WERE WE VICTIMS LIKE IRAQIS? Think on it.

sibel edmonds gave us a little insight in to this mess
and i think the key lesson to be learned from her: when the weapons/drug dealers stand to make money, war will follow. never mind regional stability, diplomacy, or even grandiose claims about the nature of the ’war on terror.’ too many of our “diplomats” and politicians are in it for personal gain, who cares if some brown furriners and sucker soldiers die and chaos ensues for decades? so what’s hastert up to these days, anyway? denny was hip deep in this, iirc.
