Turnabouts in War Attitude Makes Strange Bedfellow

Ruth's picture

I am impressed. It wasn't so long ago that Wise Man Richard Cohen discovered that he had been wrong - and that he did so too oppose the war. In fact, he called for impeaching w .

Coming in from the cold now, that same op-ed specialist is born again to the realization that lives are at stake.

In an editorial entitled "Wasted Lives" the reformed war advocate has noticed, and to his credit speaks out about, the cretin (and vice-cretin) in chief holding up the troops as their object of esteem, and using them as an excuse to prolong their criminal war.

I think it's worth your while to read the whole piece, but especially the conclusion...

...the obscuring of death and injury with emotive words and patriotic babble ought to be seen as a hideously obscene avoidance of accountability.

I would say 'of criminal intent' or at least 'of guilt for murder' myself, but the meme of accountability is probably as far as you can go without having the editorial board of WaPo decide you're too honest to put in print.

Welcome to the rational world, Wise Man Cohen.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.

Bad news (for the party in power) that's released at 5:00 PM on a Friday so that nobody has a chance to process it—except the people who released it, who start spinning it immediately, hoping that their version will take before the Sunday talk shows.
