UPDATE: FL, NC, VA all qualified for Stein in ONE DAY, after CO, OH, NM, TX! CT, AZ, DC are closing in to seal the deal!

It's been a dramatic past few days, as thousands & thousands have been raised to support Dr. Stein in just a few days.

There are currently 19 states that have qualified for funds, but at least one more (CT, AZ, or DC) is needed for victory. Chances are the FEC may disqualify some donors' funds for not having the correct address, bounced checks, etc., so it's critical that there is a buffer for the unforeseen.

That's why it's important for anyone who has the ability contribute up to the $250 limit, even if your state has qualified. If your state hasn't qualified, your funds will still be gov't matched!

Donors residing in CT, AZ, & DC are most critical, but everyone can help. We're almost there!

Midnight tonight (June 30) is the absolute deadline for federal matching donations; you can still donate afterwards, but they won't get doubled.

If you still need an introduction to her, and where she is coming from, please listen or read this transcript of an interview she did with Matthew Rothschild, Editor of Progressive Magazine. She is the only progressive in the race, and deserves your support. Thanks to all the Correntians who chipped in!! It's working!

Rothschild: What is the effective response? Would it be better to raise these issues within the Democratic party? Nader had name recognition, and only got 3%. What is the use?

Stein: That is the question isn’t it?

If an effort isn’t made, it’s clear what direction we are going in. The solutions are only getting further away.

An effort has already been made to do this within the Democratic party; it’s not a question of if it should, but as a practical matter, it’s just not going to happen.

Many good people have tried a debate within the Democratic party; but the party has been so moribund that there is no prospect of debate on these issues, or salvage from within.

It’s time to close the door on the discussion and move forward.

It’s not that people want to, but it’s become a necessity.

Millions of people are losing their jobs.

Millions of people are getting kicked out of their homes.

Students can’t afford to go to college, and have no prospects other than being indentured servants for the rest of their lives.

What’s driving this isn’t discretionary, and it’s outrageous. It’s clear the time has arrived to push an alternative.

We need to be there as the old paradigm is falling apart, and as it continues to fall apart. We need to be there to keep the discussion active, and keep these solutions for a just, green future on the table, and build support for them.

Rothschild: What about the spoiler question that comes up; that you are going to elect Romney or Gingrich & they will be worse than Obama.

Stein: That argument does not stand the test of time.

The politics of fear have brought us everything we were afraid of.

Obama has embraced or intensified all of our worst fears of George Bush. We have learned that silence is not an effective political strategy. We are on the economic cliff, the climate cliff, the education cliff, the healthcare cliff… We are on the path of devastation. It’s not easy, you know?

The question is do we bring back democracy here? And if we absent ourselves right now, and by ‘we’ I mean those who are not corporate sponsored or Wall Street, if we disappear right now, we are going to get more of the same.

We have to at least engage the fight; we’ve got to at least do that. Then other things become possible. If we don’t at least engage fight, it’s all over… Move to another planet because this one will not survive…

And when you talk about ‘spoiling,’ in the eyes of most people what’s being ‘spoiled’ is their healthcare, their education…

They are not thinking about ‘spoiling’ some politician’s career…

This is about reclaiming our lives. When you talk to young people, you realize they are the ones paying the supreme price for our generational injustice. You ask them how things are, and they’d tell you that things are pretty ‘spoiled’ right now…

We're counting on you AZ, DC, & CT! Let's do this!

It doesn't take much to pull this off. Honestly a dozen people in the state is all it takes... Maybe only 11 now. :)

Thanks!

I ask b/c you mention a "buffer". (I am not in any of these states, or the very close ($$ wise states).

From the site you linked it looks like from recent twitter that CT has qualified, so this would be # 20. Correct?

So, a "buffer" could be more $$ in state already qualified, and or an extra state qualifies. State by state buffers seem more reasonable.

Also, if you have any contact with the campaign, it would be good to suggest that they update totals on page. I have done fundraising in a minor way online (back when I thought there were better Dems). I know that people who might not otherwise donate will suddenly decide to donate if the goal is very very close (I mean, $ contributed are close to stated goal), and deadline is also close. There is some kind of WOW! factor, like, "yes, I really can make a difference".

Knowing what the updated totals are would really encourage this. (I've seen it happen.)

Also, I assume, though not clear from site, that time deadline is specific for the particular state, depending on where in the time zones those states are.

Yes, the final deadline is PST, not EST.

They have been doing a daily update on the totals since the middle of last week, which has been very exciting and provided a lot of motivation & buzz as you said. They did say they would stop this weekend and do a final update once everything was finalized.

It looks like CT should do it, assuming nothing goes wrong. Hopefully AZ will come in for backup.

The Libertarians qualified with just 20 states as well. One of them, Indiana, just barely made it. If that one state had lost a single $10 donation, the party would not have qualified for matching funds. (View the FEC document here: http://www.fec.gov/finance/2012matching/...)

That's how critical just one donor can be, even if it's just 10 bucks. I hope we don't cut it that close, but you never know what the Republicrats will throw at them.

No word yet on the final tallies. That's probably a good move on the campaign's part to keep things close to the vest for now.

When they submit their FEC filing, they will have to disclose the amount from each state. I'm assuming that will be released next week.
