I can't believe I'm writing this, but for the foreseeable future this is my last post at TPM.
I'm heading over to The Washington Post, where I'll be writing the lead blog on a new site that WaPo is launching. This will drive you mad with curiosity, unfortunately, but the details on the new site and blog will only be forthcoming when it launches the week after next.
Let's take trip down memory lane:
Of David Shuster's loathsome "Chelsea's being pimped out" comments, and the Clinton's campaign's fierce response to the incident, Greg Sargent says:
That [Clinton communications advisor Howard Wolfson] would effectively rule out future debate appearances for the time being strongly suggests that the Hillary campaign discussed this in some detail beforehand and decided to launch this broadside against the network. It also suggests that the Hillary camp sees the potential for political gain in drawing media attention to negative and sexist comments made on MSNBC about her and her daughter.

Yeah, because the only reason
A mother would defend her daughter, and her own actions in regards to her parenting, is because there could be a political benefit. At least he acknowledges that the comments were sexist, which is better than I saw on many other sites.
I'm sure there will be many more upgrades from PB 1.0 to the Village
as the years roll on, since they've now proven their bona fides.
Yea! More poison for our discourse.

On the plus side
The so-called progressive blogosphere is losing another Villager who posed as a liberal.
I fear the blogosphere is now part of the Village
I thought this after reading Ackerman's post, particularly the part about TPM being a feeder and online "journalism" being the future. Somerby is right: whether it's a blogger like Kos or Ezra Klein or a talking head like Rachel Maddow (before getting her own show), they're all out there to get nods (along with lucrative contracts, book deals, access, etc.) from the establishment.
& we have the opposite too -- Politico & Daily Beast
and others -- all very well-funded -- who are hiring MSM ppl (even Judy Miller at Daily Beast!!!!) to work online.
Greg was one of the few bloggers ...
... to defend Hillary.
WKJM
fired the only woman on his staff when she objected to how Hillary was treated at TPM, and he silenced Greg Sargent by shutting down Greg's separate blog, Horse's Mouth, and folding him in to the general election reporting, which trashed Hillary and made a saint of Barack.
Yep, Sargent's muzzling...
... was one of the first signs that somebody's kidnapped Josh, IIRC. None of us could understand it at the time, of course...
