WaPo's L'il Debbie Howell sticks the shiv into Froomkin

little_debbie From L’il Debbie’s online chat today:

Arlington, VA: Here’s two useful ways the Post can rebuilt its credibility. First, get rid of editorial race-baiters such as Eugene Robinson. What a mean, offensive writer! Second, at least TRY to balance a blatant partisan like Dan Froomkin. While he should have free-reign, he should also have a counterpart that expresses the White House perspective without a cloak of paranoia and breathless skepticism. Unless and until the Post addresses these glaring affronts to fairness, your little sessions here online will never do much good.

Deborah Howell: I disagree about Gene Robinson. I am a fan of his. I will tell the Web site editors about your comments on Froomkin.

Notice the immediate support for Robinson.

And notice the immediate complete lack of support for Froomkin. I guess she’s not a “fan,” eh?

Froomkin should cut loose from those assholes at WaPo and join TPM. I’m sure some sort of deal could be worked out…

Anyhow, FWIW, you can contact L’il Debbie here. But be courteous! L’il Debbie doesn’t like bad words, like “coverage” or “accountability.”

NOTE Way to “promote public understanding of the newspaper”, Debbie. Really.

Notice Also Li'l Debbie's response to the race-baiting comment

Eugene Robinson is a race-baiter?

Whether Deb likes Robinson or doesn’t is beside the point. The point should have been that calling Robinson a race-baiter is a prime example of race-baiting on the part of the commentator. The only reason the reader could make that impossible to demonstrate characterization is the fact that Robinson is a black man. Gee, I can remember when we used to call that racism.

So why the hell is Li’l Debbie so willing to pass on the remarks of this commentator about Froomkin?

If one of us wrote a comment about the Post’s credibility being dependent on banning all reporters and all op ed’s wutg a right-leaning prospective, would she even bother to be polite.

I agree that the Wa Po has a credibility problem, and it will continue to have one as long as Deborah Howell remains in the position of a reader’s representative. She remains the very definition of a mirthless joke.
