If you have "no place to go," come here!

Well, at least he didn't call her "sweetie"

AP:

As Obama stood next to the world's most recognized democracy icon, he mispronounced her name repeatedly.

Ever gracious, Suu Kyi did not correct her American guest for calling her Aung YAN Suu Kyi multiple times during his statement to reporters after their meeting.

Proper pronunciation for the Nobel laureate's name is Ahng Sahn Soo Chee.

Just the kind of thing Bush would do, no? To be fair:

The meeting came after Obama met with Myanmar's reformist new President Thein Sein — a name he also botched.

As the two addressed the media, Obama called his counterpart "President Sein," an awkward, slightly affectionate reference that would make most Burmese cringe.

Note to presidential advisers: For future rounds of diplomacy, the president of Myanmar is President Thein Sein — on first and second reference.

Probably worse, actually -- mispronounce the name using an insultingly familiar form.

Sloppy advance work to say the least. How do we leverage The Obama's sensitivity to other cultures if he isn't sensitive?

The question on the mind of every person in Asia is "Who will he barf on?"

but then continued, expanded, and cemented so many of Bush the Younger/Cheney's worst policies. Hence, the pejorative "Bush III."

Yes, I know very well there was a Bush the Elder; however, he did not do things quite as bad as Bush/Cheney.

Thus, iirc, Obama earned the epithet "Bush III" due to following often the worst of Bush/Cheney.

Or, we could just continue to call Obama Bush III, which would include the one term of Bush the Elder, the two terms of Bush/Cheney, and the two terms of Obama cementing all the Bush/Cheney crap.

Also, my comment wsa entirely tongue in cheek, with all barbs intended.

Should Aung San Suu Kyi be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should Aung San Suu Kyi be forgot,
And President Thein Sein?

Bush didn't gut SS and Medicare. Obama and the Dems will.

actually DID, but will manage to do what St. Ronnie, decades of Republicans since the 1930's, and Bush/Cheney could not accomplish.

Bush/Cheney TRIED to gut SocSec, but Dems pushed back and the voters were infuriated.

Obama the Tranformative is very intent on doing what all those Republicans, including Bush/Cheney, could never do. He WILL outdo St. Ronnie, in the worst ways obviously.

He will snatch Democratic victory from the jaws of the 2012 Republican defeat and then there will be another backlash vote against Dems in 2014, sending Repubs back into power. But Obama will be satisfied*.

If Obama achieves his goal, mark my words, that is what will happen.

*As in destroying the Democratic Party, transforming it into a Republican adjunct is another Great Transformation.
