What hath Kos wrought

It occurs to me that Kos has created a community that follows Democratic party politics with the same intensity and expertise that fans follow "their" sports teams.

With the added attraction, that in politics you can actually go out and play the game (as opposed to being captive to a spectacle).

This is an amazing achievement, and one that the left has been trying, and failing, to do since the 1930s. (That's why the Daily Worker had great sports columnists).

On the other hand:

Democratic party politics aren't the only kind of politics. Eh?

Troll prophylactic: No, I'm not trying to bring back Stalin. Stalin wasn't fun. I mean, under Stalin, all the action was in the torture chambers, and what's fun about that? Except for authoritarians like your typical Republican, of course, to whom the relationship between the torturer and the tortured is just one more relationship between those with authority, and those without, and thus, in their thinking, not merely "natural," but the only relationships possible.
