What I Cannot Figure Out

is what, exactly, McCain's performance in this video really means.

On one hand, a guy who wants to be the most powerful leader in the free world lets some nutjob take over the microphone; on the other, a Senator who may or may not be for real is talking about the value of voting.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Oscar?

I first saw the video via a Grand Moff Texan link, by the way, in context of a conversation about how angry McCain's audience was. In that conversation it's alleged that McCain/Palin supporters are about half a hair away from mob behavior, specifically racist mob behavior against Obama.

I have my own doubts about ACORN, but I'm bothered more by the prospect of a man who would be "The Man" letting some anonymous bully take away the pulpit and redirect the message.

Is McCain really that powerless? If so, we can't let him win, 'cause another four (or, FSM forbid! eight) years of somebody who either can't or won't think straight in the White House would be an unmitigated disaster for this nation.

On the other hand, if the Canadians invade and take over, it might not be too bad. Sadly, it's a reasonable Spanish of a Mexican sort I speak, not a passable French ... although if you speak a Romance language, you can learn another one, they tell me. And we might get lucky: the Canadians might stop at the Mason-Dixon line. Or wherever they run into enough Mexicans to be convinced they've stomped all the rednecks flat, whichever comes first.

Oh, shut up. Nightmares don't have to make sense. Look at the 2000 election ... or damn near anything that's happened since then.

It seems to me the message of the nutjub is

resonating with the audience, and McCain uses that to say what he wants to say. Now, the Republicans are masters of election fraud, but the Democrats have witnessed massive fraud in their primaries (and looked the other way) and we're now seeing apparently a ramp up for more during the election. stealing an election though on a national basis is far more complex than stealing it on a local basis.

I think McCain does just fine.

If we are the ones we have been waiting for, then we have met the enemy and he is us.

I, for one

welcome our new Canadian overlords. Universal healthcare - finally!

Wha?

This looked like a typical GOP rally, to me. And, I didn't take from this as someone bullying the microphone anymore than it sometimes happens at rallies. It's strange that that struck you about the clip.

You want to see an exceptionally ugly/disconcerting GOP rally? Try finding the video where you hear the folks in the background screaming "terrorist" when Obama's name it mentioned. This? Not so much, at all.
