What part of "praise the lord and pass the ammunition" don't you understand, soldier?

Look out, JC Christian!

David Petraeus is gunning for the job of Jesus' General:

Gen. David Petraeus is used to controversy surrounding the war in Iraq, but his publicized thoughts on an Army chaplain's book for Soldiers put him squarely in the middle of the ongoing conflict over religious proselytizing in the U.S. military.

The book is "Under Orders: A Spiritual Handbook for Military Personnel," by Army Chaplain (Lt. Col.) William McCoy, and according to Petraeus' published endorsement of the work, "it should be in every rucksack for those times when soldiers need spiritual energy."

"Spiritual Energy"?!

Is that like a candy bar?

Sure...

I understand the Catholic Church is now adopting its liturgy to allow for the transubstantiation of Snickers bars.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation

is all over this one.

I'd like to say that I had confidence that a new administration would address the issue of forced Christianization of our military, but with Obama pandering to exactly that crowd, I don't think so. And McCain is hopeless.

I thought spiritual energy had to do with "bodily fluids"

That's why we weren't supposed to drain them

Color me dumb, but I never connected before... (spoilers!)

How "Strangelove" and "2001" are really the same movie. I knew that Kubrick originally planned for "2001" to end with bombs destroying the earth as the Starchild evolved mankind into a new species, but I hadn't before connected how similar General Ripper and the HAL 9000 were in their motivations: power needed to be wrested from the mortals who possessed it and used with extreme dispassion.

Hey, if it's Christian

That means they'll be reminded not to kill innocents, right? /snark

I'd try to play dumb, but I'm not that smart.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
