Because it's a triple-witching-hour:
Friday, the day before a long weekend, and just before Congress returns from vacation.
And, whaddaya know? Just before I pressed the Submit button:
Pony Blow defenestrates himself. What a shame.

He has cancer and needs to make more money
Not sure there is a connection there, but the way the AP article was written seems to imply it:
Leaving aside how insane it is that $170,000 isn't enough money (especially considering he has the best health care plan in the galaxy) I have to give Tony Blow his due: he didn't say "spend more time with my family."
It may have been his most candid statement of his tenure.
Back to Fox for fair and balanced bloviating, I say!

Snow's touch
Something tells me Tony Blow is behind the announcement today that the Cancer Society will be using its entire $15 million advertising budget this year to promote adequate health coverage. That's right, go get yourself a policy, victims - that's putting your donations to profitable use.

nope
Tony Blows was just a teaser.
The real news will be Craig press release to say he is stepping down. This will fill up the weekend cycles, and it's his duty to "take one for the team". People won't even see Iran coming as the Craig smokescreen fills the idiot box until it is Shock & Awe II(tm) time.
5 p.m. Friday horrors are so
'04.
The horrors this week were
--the Gonzales resignation (notice how fast that disappeared after the [months-old] Craig story "broke"?);
--Bush gutting the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and oh yeah cutting the balls off the tiny remaining scrap of "states' rights" belief that the Republican party used to hold
--the leak of the raw version of the latest Iraq Debacle report before it could get Cloroxed-and-sandpapered by the White House.
Those are just the ones I can think of right off the top of my head. But we have to be kept updated on closeted gay men's room activities and drenched in Princess syrup to keep us distracted from noting any of the above.
Ruth,
There are so many more worthy ways to spend $15M.
Crap.. missed by 17 hours
Ok.. I thought it would make the Friday night news, but at least it will still fill up the weekend talk shows:
I still stand by this being a smokescreen so no one pays attention to Marine carrier groups moving into the Gulf. Back to school special!
yes, vastie
The use of 'profitable' was supposed to be sardonic.

Ruth,
I know that. The charity (it's charitable but technically accurate to call it that) I linked to (also associated with a Bush press secretary, and also spending $15M) may be the world's worst.
