What's happening on Mars???

Sounds veerrry interesting. Quixote at Shakesville does a good job setting the stage for what may be a forthcoming announcement from NASA.

Yay! Sounds like we've learned something new! I don't care what they found -- more water, organic compounds, fossil bacteria, everybody's missing socks -- just, Yay! It's hard not to hope for something conclusive about life.

Meanwhile, People of Earth wonder (as summed up by Watercat at Shakesville): "Why are they briefing the US President, and how are they getting scientific facts into little tiny words so he can understand them?"

Bush is pro-Life on Mars

So....

Oh, I give up. Nothing can be more insane than the situation we're in now.

[ ] Very tepidly voting for Obama [ ] ?????. [ ] Any mullah-sucking billionaire-teabagging torture-loving pus-encrusted spawn of Cthulhu, bless his (R) heart.

Life is inevitable

Given the right conditions, a solvent and multivalent atoms soluble therein, life is possible in many forms. With an abundance of oxygen and carbon, because of their combinatorial flexibility and potential for energy storage as a result of their large number of oxidation valence states (C has 9, O has 8) the shift is from possible to probable that life will form. The energy structure of the universe extrudes life, where ever it can.

As yet, however, there is no evidence anywhere demonstrating the existence of any intelligent life.

Present company excluded?

"As yet, however, there is no evidence anywhere demonstrating the existence of any intelligent life."

It's utterly unimaginable to me that we're the lone sentient species in the universe. Guess I'm just not feeling the human race is all that special lately.

I pray every night (to Carl Sagan) that SETI succeeds in my lifetime!

The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life

in the Universe.

Wagner's answer was equivocal, although hopeful. I am afraid that the aliens will be disappointed. Then things will get much worse.

Captain Dubya understands all about life on Mars

He read all about it in one of his comic books.

Matter of fact, before the Mars probe left, he asked NASA if they could maybe bring back one of those little green men...

...for the rest of us

Dubya is worried, has a new task for NASA:

Bush Vows To Put Man On Moon Before It Disappears At End Of Month.

"The moon has already shrunk to nearly a quarter of its size," Bush said in his speech at NASA headquarters. "That means we have less than a week to move."

if there is life on Mars

Jesus must have put it there. I think He flew on his pterodactyl and planted the seeds. Not sure He did this before or after his life here, though. I'll have to check the Creation Museum website before I could say for sure.

Balderdash, DWS, everybody knows

that Martians seeded earth before leaving Mars cuz there was a big time meteor heading their way!

Didn't you see Mission to Mars?? It's all true!!

Loved that one

I'd forgotten about it. Makes me all warm and fuzzy about Mars.

I'll see your Mission to Mars and ...

raise you Capricorn One! It all never happened!

Ooooh, conspiracy movies!!

ahh!

i loved all those!

the 70s did conspiracy right, i'd say...so many good ones. It was in the air, i guess.

Ever hear of Plato? Aristotle? Socrates?

Morons! I'll give you conspiracy theory movies -- with Conspiracy Theory, the movie!

and in honor of my previous subject line:

A battle of wits:

Buzz Aldrin explains that the moon hoax theory is incorrect

to Bart Sibrel, the producer of the moon hoax "documentary," in the best response EVAH to a conspiracy theorist!

Somehow I missed Capricorn One -- gotta check that out.

Ah, there to be so many good Mel Gibson movies, like this one, but I can hardly bear to look at the creep anymore. Too bad.

Never get tired of the Princess Bride.

Indubitably!

Carl Sagan appreciates your prayers

I'm sure.

BTW, do you mean inconceivable?

Oops

Yep, that's the one.

So who says "Indubitably?"

Sherlock Holmes?

If true, do I win something now?

Inconceivable.

Also, Data on Star Trek.

You keep using that word.

I do not think it means what you think it means.

It's inconceivable that you might win something.

It is indubitable, however, that Data would occasionally say, "Indubitably, Captain."

I do not think I mean what you think I think it means.
