Why am I never cynical enough?

Taegan Goddard:

It's now becoming clear that Sen. Barack Obama's campaign moved his nomination speech to Invesco Field so that he could pack the stadium with true Obama supporters rather than face a convention hall with nearly half the delegates being only reluctant supporters.

"Smart" politics, though. The shots of the audience cheering and holding their open cellphones in the air will be great.

Nice catch.

Oh well. I guess Taegan Goddard is just another racist insane person who hates Obama, even if he has been blogging for years. Good to know.

Did I mention that Taegan is probably old?

NOTE And the beauty part is that Obama doesn't address the concerns of the supporters; he just changes the venue. Rather like moving the DNC is Chicago, it seems. That's the lovely part of having a "movement." I imagine Congressional committees will be circumvented much the same way: new venues, packed audience, ringers.

August 28th

Forty fifth anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech.

Excerpt: "Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado".

We know what happens next, don't we? You can't see, and the cameras can't televise the Rocky Mountains live while Obama uses King's "words, just words", if Obama is indoors.

Can't you hear the pundits now?
"That was the most powerful acceptance speech in the history of mankind!"
"Those stirring words, and the mention of Martin Luther King and the sight of the actual mountains Dr. King spoke about, was so moving."
"I felt something tingling up my leg."

When was Denver chosen as the venue again?

Hate conspiracies, but that is way too cute and pretty.

Only tyrants rig elections.

what's wrong with that?

After the way Kennedy's supporters treated Carter, this was a very smart move.

I agree it's tactically smart...

... but if Obama and the Obama Team are anything remotely close to what their press releases say they are, it should never have been necessary in the first place.

It's become a photo op, a product placement - not a convention.

I love this job!

I love this job!

Maybe Budweiser could do "Bud Poll"

with little make-believe caucuses between bottles of Bud and Bud Light.

Just like the Super Bowl (except the SB is a real competition with an unscripted ending)

Funniest thing I've seen/heard/read in weeks.

And I just saw Zoolander.

Would Obama's team have a bunch of 40s showing up to the caucuses to intimidate Hill's supporters? Guess I'll have to wait for the commercial.

Only tyrants rig elections.

Oh, it's bigger than that. It also means Obama has

an extra 25k supporters in Denver in case the nomination starts to go awry. Imagine you're a wavering delegate, and you know there are 20k Obama supporters on their way to Denver and they're going to be pissed if he's not the nominee - you think the fact of all of those people on the street, after the thuggery that crew unleashed on the caucuses isn't going to chill people?

Who here thinks those people wouldn't riot if Clinton or some other consensus candidate pulled the nomination away from Obama? Do we really think all those 20-something delegates that were left after the Obama purged everyone who had participated in politics before and actually knew how the system worked and were capable of thinking for themselves, aren't going to perceive that Obama had the nomination stolen from him and cut loose just as they did in caucus after caucus around the nation?

It's a photo op! No, it's an implicit threat! It's a photo op AND an implicit threat!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrr.....

I've heard the stories out of Texas and Iowa first hand. These aren't Demorats - these are Obamacans.

But wait a second...

I thought we were told to stop our circle jerking and that this change of venue was above board!
Or am I confused and group thinking again?
GOTV effort, for reals. Nothing to see here

Here, this will help you be more cynical

Denver Was Chosen...

Denver was chosen on January 11, 2007. The original request for a proposal went out in February of the previous year. Ultimately, only thee cities ended up submitting bids to host the convention: New York City, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Denver. But, I don't see any conspiracy, here, at all. The Dems have had Colorado on their minds since at least 2004, and possibly before then.

BTW, while I agree that in the short-term moving the acceptance from the perilous events at the Pepsi Center will be a good thing for him, if anyone thinks that there is going to be some huge net positive, I think they are wrong. He can't keep doing the same thing and expecting the same level of enthusiasm every time. It's like a junkie trying to get a new high. It just doesn't happen.

But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

I thought Denver was chosen to make it easier for The Chosen One

to ascend into Heaven? (that also explains the outdoor venue, we wouldn't want him to hit His head on the roof)
