I vote because I am a citizen of the United States of America.
And, since I cast my first vote for a President in 1980 for James Earl Carter Jr., I vote so I can bitch when I lose with a clear conscience.

I am STILL Doing Penance For Casting My First Vote, In '68,
for Richard M. Nixon.
I am karmically fated to experience only electoral disappointment for ever more in payment for that wholesale breakdown in enfranchisement.
I still vote, especially in local elections, because it is a duty of a citizen to perform at LEAST the minimal acts of his station.
