Why not a truth and reconciliation commission?

It's probably too late for that very worthy endeavor, impeachment. But--crossed fingers, here--when Democrats win the Presidency in 2008, why not a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to expose all of the Bush regime's crimes and attacks on the Constitution?

That way, we wouldn't be repeating the mistake we made with Nixon, when we wounded the beast, but didn't kill it.

A few felony convictions and Bush being "disgraced" for 10 years until the SCLM rehabilitates "the New Bush"--that's not nearly enough.

But a Truth and Reconciliation commmission, with full and televised hearings--that would be a narrative that grips the nation.

And, since kleig lights are the best disinfectant, at Truth and Reconciliation Commission might be an excellent way to clean out the Christianist infestation at Justice.

The truth part would be accountability through exposure and admission of crimes and acts that betray the oath of office.

The reconciliation part would be not prosecuting.

Seems like a fair trade, to me.

Staffer Nominations

Sounds like a job for: LAMBERT!

I prefer Frog Marching, but.....

I've been saying this since 2003

And we need not give up prosecutions, in South Africa they prosecuted the most serious, but gave clemency in exchange for truth in other cases. Same in El Salvador. We need to look at other societies that have done this.

I nominate John Conyers to preside over it.
