So you are bitter, aging, (1+ / 0-)
and feel that women have had it rough. Well they have. But I owe you nothing. Talk to your generation. Talk to your husbands. It's not my generation's fault.
But being bitter, aging, and female do not qualifications to be president make, despite what you or Hillary would like to think. Just being oppressed doesn't give you the sympathy ticket to all the riches in the world.
That's the ugly flip-side of millenial politics, isn't it? Maybe this is one of those moderate Republicans Obama's been appealing to? No wonder OFB
Andrew Sullivan framed his endorsement in generational terms.
For all their current, and doubtless temporary, disarray, the Conservative
Movement has always thought strategically and for the long-term. They still want to privatize Social Security, because that's where the money is.
Of course, Obama could clear this problem up very easily by taking Social Security privatization off the big table he wants to sit down and negotiate with the Republicans at. But he hasn't. He should.

as an aside...
...has anyone else noticed that the whole "we need to change the way that benefit increases are calculated" has disappeared from the dialogue entirely?
There's a reason for this, of course. Adjustments to benefit levels to current recipients were based on increases in average wages, and not prices. During the Clinton years, income growth outstripped inflation -- and thus benefit levels were increasing faster than inflation. During the Bush years, the reverse has been true -- and thus the entire "change the way current benefits are adjusted" argument has disappeared...
Millennials Played for Fools
Two points: 1. Amazing how my generation lives in absolute denial about being "past" bigotry, believing it's b/c we're Teh Awesome!, evidenced by this dumb ass trivializing being systematically oppressed by society as simply being "bitter" and combating the status quo as lame (Note: misogyny doesn't count as bigotry, but only as mere rudeness since women, girls are, y'know, not human and all); and 2. We are seriously the Tool Generation thanks to corporate America's success in basing its profits fundamentally on appeasing young, white males, thus, we don't challenge the status quo, we revel in it (e.g., questioning deep-seated misogyny is considered "conventional" while perpetuating the status quo of injustice is "rebellious").

Orange frat house diaries
In defense of that incredibly ageist, sexist, comment, that diary was inflammatory. I just don't understand the "If my candidate doesn't get nominated I will take my ball and go home" diaries. Why would you think that would win votes? All it does is motivate people to walk out on your candidate should they win the nomination. That is the sort of sentiment best kept to oneself.
The Orange frat house is the worst. It is better everywhere else.
"Real Women Don't Need to Be Pandered To"
I always enjoy posts about Unity. They have such appeal! I certainly hope this one's forwarded on to the superdelegates.

Damn
I read that Daily Kos diary about "real" women and I was taken aback (Sadly, it's a rather common theme: women who vote for Clinton are only voting for her due to genitalia camaraderie unlike women Obama supporters who are "transcending" gender; Democrats are incapable of being misogynists).
What's so new and different about bigotry? Hell, even Maureen Dowd already has that whole "Women as misogynistic bigots" gig down.* To dehumanize and demonize supporters of another candidate on the issue of gender (or any other trait) is insane--and yet typical. Hardly anyone challenges it. [Somewhat related: When Obama was hailed for condemning homophobia and antisemitism in black communities, he refused--surprisingly--to include misogyny. Or did I miss it?]

Lovely.
*I'm loving how guys feel that if women somehow agree with this bigotry that it legitimizes it (e.g., n-word acceptable for white guys if a black friend says so)
Unity
I'm getting pretty tired of the theme of unity spouted at the Big Orange.
Obama attracts "real" feminists. Clinton only gets whiny women with chips on their shoulders.
Omaba attracts the highly educated. Clinton only gets those supporters who are as dumb as dirt.
Obama transends race. Clinton supporters are closeted racists.
Obama attracts young energetic non-voters. Clinton brings in the senile old farts.
Some unity...
Here's a nice followup on that blog thread:
"They're depending on us (2+ / 5-)
to pay their way, after a baby-boomer life of overspending and overmultiplying. They'd better beg."
Who the heck ARE these people??
They are the moderate Republicans...
... that Obama is bringing into the party.
This has been another edition of simple answers to simple questions.

There are some interesting
Campaign techniques floating around this year. Really creative, some of them.
