If you have "no place to go," come here!

You can't beat something with nothing

Career "progressives" and D apologists should really put down their pearls and rise from their fainting couches over that Iowa billboard, now papered over. (The billboard showed Obama underneath the label "Democrat Socialism," Hitler under the label "National Socialism," and Lenin under the label "Marxist Socialism.")

Sure, the billboard is goofy.* I mean, Obama? A socialist? For anybody but the banksters? Absurd! But so what?

Absurd as it is, the message is crystal clear. Obama's a "socialist" (dread word) and a tyrant.**

A clear message always beats no messsage. And the Ds have no message at all.

Plus, the Ds haven't delivered on housing, jobs, or health care. And the Deepwater Horizon disaster is a total clusterfuck, worse than Katrina both in its effects and its management.

All the Ds have is The Big O. And The Big O is a big nothing, too.***

NOTE * I grew up in the Midwest, and "Impeach Earl Warren" signs were all over. The goofballs you shall always have with you (cf. John 12:8).

NOTE ** Actually, Obama is a tyrant. I don't know what other heading targetting US citizens for assassination comes under. "Thoughtful"? Bush was a tyrant, who denied that he was subject to the rule of law. And Obama normalized Bush's executive power grab.

NOTE *** Actually, that's not fair. Obama has done very well for his actual constituents, the banksters and the rentiers.

The cunning, if cretinous, Wingnut knows how to get the Progosaurus running in circles. The poor beasts must be exhausted.

A Progressive Prayer

O Lord, please give us this day
Some inconsequential distraction
By a powerless right-wing jerk
That we may divert our eyes
From the perpetual-disappointment machine
That is our own party
Which in thine infinite wisdom
Thou hath placed at the nation's helm
To do absolutely none of the things
We'd like to believe it stands for
Amen

* * *

We couldn't get through the day if we had to look our own "movement" in the mirror. "Look over there, Sarah Palin!" saves our face and bacon (tempeh, rather) every time.

That prayer is a joy.

I go back and forth on how much conscious fecklessness the Progosaurus indulges. Neither they nor the Wingnut are individuated adults. Their political freak show looks like corporate performance art, with hopelessly solipsistic chumps for actors. The careerists, who do manage to make a bit of money, are all dreadful mediocrities.

But..my response: (not a prayer)
"I will strive to have the mental, physical, and moral strength to FIGHT against the influences and powers that would make this world unjust! May i keep my promises to my family and my children, and most importantly, to myself, that I will, when called upon, give my all to preserve our environment against the predations of all who would despoil it. I will sacrifice my time, and energy (emotional, physical, and intellectual), to further the improvement of the condition of our shared habitat. And I will stand agianst the purveyors of destruction and corruption with all my might, and confront them wherever and whenever I see their perfidy."
Vote Green.
Elect me

Every time the left goes crazy over Palin, she rakes in more money for the Republican party and candidates. Now, she'll never be the nominee, because the R's want to win and she loses them independents and moderate Republicans, but she also diverts focus from who will really be the nominee (my guess is Romney - who is quietly building a nice network and raising lots of money).

You know I might be able to muster more outrage about this if so many Dems, progressive, and bloggers, protesters, etc. hadn't been comparing Bush and Cheney to Hitler for years.

As much as I loathed their policies, it wasn't remotely true - any more than this is, but the stank of hypocrisy from both sides of Republicratic Party drove off any sympathy I might have.

Aw come on, Lambert, you know very well that the bankster bailouts had nothing whatsoever to do with Socialism. No Socialist I've ever heard of thinks giving away government money to rich fraudster capitalists is Socialism.
